At Get Real Driver Training, we aim to provide the best and most complete driver training available in Rockhampton. If you want to learn the things that could make a difference in life and death situations then this is the place to get it.
Many driving schools will teach you how to get a licence, but these days that isn’t enough. We should no longer feel safe on the road just because we are doing the right thing. We all need to be constantly on the lookout for the hazards that we are confronted with on the road- and know how to handle them.
There will always be drivers on the road who do the wrong thing or simply make mistakes- with deadly consequences. The best way to deal with this is learn as much as possible about what to do in emergency situations and try to maintain control of the vehicle.
Crashes will always happen but many could be avoided or at least minimised with constant scanning of the road and the correct evasive action. Far too many drivers panic in these situations and slam on the brakes because they don’t know what else to do.

- Highway driving including overtaking
- Dirt road driving
- Defensive Driving
- How to handle emergency situations
- How to avoid being tailgated
- What to do about road rage
- 4×4 driving
Its up to you how much you want to learn. This is not intended as an intensive or advanced driver training course but more basic commonsense that every driver on the road should know. Most learners would need only 2 extra lessons over and above what is needed to obtain your licence.
Defensive driving courses are available for work related requirements such as mine sites etc. Basic defensive driver training courses usually take 3-4 hours depending on the ability of the driver participating. 4×4 defensive driving courses would normally take 4-6 hours again depending on the participating driver and individual requirements. Cost of training is $60 per hour for normal car lessons, $80 per hour for 4×4 training in my car or we can use your own 4×4 for $60 per hour. Please phone for more details if required.
Training will be provided in a friendly relaxed atmosphere in an airconditioned car with dual controls. You only need to ask yourself one question; do you want to be just another driver on the road, or do you want to be confident, competent driver that knows what to do when faced with an emergency.
Anyone interested in learning more about car control can request weekend afternoon of driving experience in the Kruger Kart in a safe learning environment. The afternoon will include steering exercises, cornering techniques and car control. If you are interested let Tom know and if you have completed at least 5 lessons there is no charge for this.
